Las Vegas Cabana Rental Ettiquette

Thursday, March 19th, 2009
Dr. Feelgood asked:

Hello - Got a few questions here regarding cabana rentals in Vegas.

Our “group” of couples friends (6-8 couples) have taken an annual September trip to Las Vegas every year for a long time. We are all in our late-30’s now and when we began we were mostly kidless 20-somethings with like economic means. 10 years later we’re still very close friends, but our budgets are very different. $200 drinking by the pool all day is nothing for some, and a day’s allowance for others.

Last year at the Mirage, we got a cabana for NFL Sunday. It was great, and we had an awesome time, but at the end of the day I got stuck with a $1K bill. I recouped about $600, but nowhere near what I was owed. I don’t want to make a big deal, so I let it go. We’re going to Mandalay Bay this year I don’t want to make the same mistake.

* What is general gratuity on the cabana? Do you tip on the price of the cabana, or do you just tip on the food & drink service?
* Is it difficult or rude, to ask the attendant to keep separate tabs for each couple?
* How do you broach the subject of someone who didn’t want to pay for the cabana, but continually sits themselves down to shoot the breeze, watch the game, etc. without pissing anyone off.

Thanks very much for any comments, experiences, or suggestions.

Las Vegas Shows? What’s the best/discounted tickets?

Monday, March 16th, 2009
Emma asked:

My husband, daughter (age 13) & I are going to take a 4-day vacation to Las Vegas at the end of June. We are not gamblers, but we are hoping to enjoy relaxing (got a great deal at the Palms) and seeing the sites and a show. The shows are amazingly expensive. In particular, we are interested in “O”, “Ka”, The Blue Man Group, Phantom or Spamalot. We are open to other ideas too. Would appreciate suggestions on ways to get cheaper tickets &/or other shows that are good /less expensive and appropriate to bring our sweetie pie to, also. Thanks in advance for your suggestions :) !!!

Henderson, Summerlin and open to other surrounding area’s.
I’m currently saving for a decent down payment and working on bettering my credit score. Currently in the low 600’s
I’m seeing prices dip a little over the last 5 months. I currently live in Santa Ana, CA. and the prices have dropped some but you get more bang for your dollar in surrounding Las Vegas area compared to Orange County, CA. and I have a few friends that live in Vegas and like it and from the times I’ve visited I like it too. The heat doesn’t bother me at all. A bit roasty at times, but I can deal with it.
Too all that are familar with Las Vegas area please e-mail back and give some insight and views from others opinion
Thanks a lot, I hope to hear from you out there soon.

Hilton Las Vegas timeshare property offer?

Sunday, March 15th, 2009
roger v asked:

I recently got a phone call about some new timeshares, in las vegas that the hilton has. I am in the hilton honors bullcrap so they offered me 3 nights and 4 days at a suite at their timeshare property for 49 bucks and 40 more if it is on the weekend. That is the entire stay, at most for 3 nights together is 89 bucks as long as you agree to look at the timeshares and have somebody throw a sales pitch at you (I know how that goes…). It is just me, my girlfriend and a timeshare guy on our own. We have to go to that to get the price but I don’t know. I have the money to stay anywhere but this seems like a really good deal. I am just wondering if anybody knows where it is, and if I should take it or not???
The timeshare meeting is only 2 hours. They said it was brand new, does anybody know where they would be?

It was being built near the Hard Rock Hotel and I think it was the real deal- as in it was associated with the real Haufbrahaus in Germany? Spelling is probably off- sorry

Real estate in the Las Vegas area, what area’s are nice and affordable in the $250,000 to maybe $300,000?

ziffel12 asked:

What do you think about Summerlin, Green Valley or Henderson area’s? I currently live in Santa Ana, Ca. and wanted a change of scenery and I have a couple of friends that work in Las Vegas and would consider moving there. If you can give me the pros and cons of living in the Vegas area it would be helpful and I understand the heat in the summer but that’s fine I can deal with it for 4 or 5 months out of the year. I go for 3-5 days on my trips out to Vegas and like it but some feedback on living there would be great.

Thanks,
MK
