Fedex delivered package late - how do I get express shipping money back?

Thursday, February 12th, 2009
Green Submarine ? asked:

I ordered a CD online through Circuit City for my cousin for christmas. He lives in California, but was in town visiting for the holidays… I ordered the CD on the 28th before he came, and payed the extra shipping so that it would be at my house on the day he arrived (12/31).. However, it wasn’t delivered until today (01/02) and he is already on his way back to california. On the package it says “Deliver on or before Dec31st.” … and by tracking it online, I see that Circuit City sent it out the day I ordered it… so Fedex is to blame for the delay. My question is how would I go about getting my money back for the extra shipping? If I would have just payed the minimum (like, $3) I would have gotten it on the same day anyway. It is obviously Fedex’s fault for not delivering it when it was supposed to.
Circuit City did their part though. They sent it out the day I ordered it, and even wrote special instructions on the package as to when it was to be delievered by.

How long can a uncooked ham last in the refrigerator?

Wednesday, February 11th, 2009
Gallo asked:

We’re heading out of town Friday for an early Thanksgiving celebration with the family coming home late on Wednesday.

We want to get a ham this year for the holidays and are figuring we should arrange for it before we leave rather than gamble on it at the store on Thanksgiving morning.

If we buy an uncooked spiral ham tomorrow night and leave it packaged, will it still be good a week later?

Is bidding 0.99 cents on a Nintendo Wii Fit Console bundle package on eBay a good idea?

Tuesday, February 10th, 2009
spitfyre asked:

I’m on the market of purchasing a Nintendo Wii Fit console bundle package. Best Buy, Circuit City, and other retailers seem to be running out of stock, because of the holidays. I’ve recently checked on eBay and found package biddings ranging from 0.99 cents to $700 dollars brand new still sealed in packaging!

Does this seem too good to be true to bid on a bundle package for 0.99 cents? And yet there are a lot of sellers selling for this price!

What would be the way to purchase the Nintendo Wii fit console bundle package without getting burned?

Is it possible to anonymously send someone a package? (without your name or address/city on it)?

Friday, February 6th, 2009
Me, Myself, and I asked:

I know a family that’s having problems getting by right now; I want to help them out a little for the holidays - some food, gifts for the kids, etc.

I don’t want them to know it’s me, though. I think it would hurt their pride too much if they knew it wasn’t a random Good Samaritan. That means no name, and no return address anywhere on the box.

They’d put two and two together if I sent it from work, and I’m not going to get a PO box just for this. The mother is always at home, monitoring the street for gossip, so dropping it on their porch isn’t an option in this case.

Is this something I can do without the post office or UPS thinking it’s some sort of suspicious package? (That would be worse than the kids not having Christmas!) If it’s not possible, do you have any suggestions?

Holiday weekend Friday weddings? ?

Thursday, February 5th, 2009
Relationship_issues asked:

Hi! I know that the holiday weekend wedding question has been asked. And that the Friday night wedding has been asked. But I have never seen them placed together!

So, that’s what this is:
We are still looking for our reception location. Actually tonight, we will seeing the place that’s 10 minutes away. (The others are either 35 minutes from the ceremony or 60 minutes from the ceremony.) But those places (we are down to our top 3 spots) are either at or next to a hotel. The 10 minute place is not.

But, as we are older (34 & 39) we are not likely to be bar hopping afterwards. And after the three weddings that we attended last year, we went home afterwards. We did not spend the night in a hotel.

So, aside from all that, the place closest to the ceremony has a sentimental meaning to us. The 35 place and the 60 place do not. But, both are beautiful facilities.

The 60 minute place will cost us nearly 15,500 for a Saturday night for the package we want. But we could get the room and package that we want on a Friday for less than 8,000! That’s a significant savings!
(edit - the per person rate between a friday and Saturday is only a $10 difference, the real savings is in the guaranteed minimum which is only 100 for a Friday, and is 175 for a Saturday. Yes, I am aware that we need to pay for the people that come, whether 105 or 180, but since we have a starting list of 242, we have lots of “b” and “c” guests that could be cut. )

I mentioned to him the possibliity of a day after Thanksgiving wedding, and that was shot down with a “what am I thinking? A wedding on Black Friday? Are you crazy” - So that’s obviously out.

But… it came to me the other day what about the friday before a holiday? The Friday before Martin Luther King, Presidents Day. Memorial, Labor Day or Columbus Day?

I know that lots of people get married on the Sunday before these holidays, but was wondering how people in general feel about a wedding that was taking place on the Friday of a holiday weekend.

I know people have said that the Saturday during a holiday weekend, breaks up the weekend for guests and prevents them from taking a trip.

But figured a Friday wedding, they could just go on their trip or whatever the next morning.

And I know that some companies will close early on the friday of some of those weekends.

But, figured that the yahoo community gives me a general idea of how people could think, before suggesting this to friends or family members.

So, how would you feel about a friday wedding on the friday of a holiday weekend?

Thanks!

Why did my husband say I can’t eat swiss cake rolls all day?

Thursday, February 5th, 2009
slgraff?? asked:

I got a new box of swiss cake rolls at the dollar store today. The kids are driving me crazy cause its the holidays and blah blah blah.

Anyways, I asked him, and he said no. He was so snotty about it too. The back of the box SAID I could now have desert any time. Each package gives me 4% of my iron intake, which I need a lot of. I don’t see what the big deal is.

When do you think my package will be delivered with UPS?

Thursday, February 5th, 2009
yoyoyo asked:

It’s a 2lb. package, and delivered by ground, and my tracking number says “Shipped/Billed On: 12/30/2008″. Does that mean it actually shipped out in the UPS truck on the 30th?

It’s the end of the year with holidays so I just would like to know. The man who sent me the package said it should be like 2 business days but I just want to make sure! :S I really want this package NOW LOL.
