How can I pick up her present secretly?

Monday, July 20th, 2009
JAD asked:

Me and my mom are on vacation, it’s just us, and I want to order something off the internet for her birthday. Were staying in her friends house while there on vacation. It will probably come as a package. Is there anyway I can pick it up without telling her where I’m going, because if I tell her where I’m going she’ll want to know why. Also, I’m twelve and need to know if the post office people will give it to me without an adult there.

USPS Mail Issue-Package Delivered Just Not To the Right House?

Wednesday, February 25th, 2009
Kiki asked:

I purchased some Xmas gifts online and had them shipped through USPS with tracking #. The tracking # says that the package was delivered and I never got it. I was home and witnessed the mailman come to my house on the day it says it was delivered and all I got was letters. I have contacted the post office who says it was a substitute mailman that day and that they would keep their eye out for the package. I didn’t have insurance on package, but shouldn’t USPS be held responsible as either this mailman kept my package or delivered it to the wrong house? Either way I don’t think I will ever use USPS again for my holiday shipping needs!

Is it possible to anonymously send someone a package? (without your name or address/city on it)?

Me, Myself, and I asked:

I know a family that’s having problems getting by right now; I want to help them out a little for the holidays - some food, gifts for the kids, etc.

I don’t want them to know it’s me, though. I think it would hurt their pride too much if they knew it wasn’t a random Good Samaritan. That means no name, and no return address anywhere on the box.

They’d put two and two together if I sent it from work, and I’m not going to get a PO box just for this. The mother is always at home, monitoring the street for gossip, so dropping it on their porch isn’t an option in this case.

Is this something I can do without the post office or UPS thinking it’s some sort of suspicious package? (That would be worse than the kids not having Christmas!) If it’s not possible, do you have any suggestions?
