I received a call that said I won a sweepstakes and have to attend a seminar to claim my prize. Is it a scam?

Interpreter_of_Maladies asked:

Actually they told me that I’ve entered a sweepstakes, which I don’t remember and told me I won and have to attend a seminar for 90 minutes. They offered a SUV, a 2500 cash prize , a vacation package and a name brand 32 in LCD TV. I know there are many scams, but have any of you ever attended these seminars before?

Total scam. Don’t go. They will try and sell you something and you will not get a prize.

Well If you dont remember entering, then most likely its a scam. As for the prizes, i find it highly scam-ish that by attending a 90-minute seminar (subject of which is unknown) to get awesome prizes is highly unlikely.

dont ever submit yourself to YOUVE WON etc when you know you didnt sign up for it -TOTAL SCAM one of my best friends gave into that and lost money because the company had asked for personal information (credit card numbers) and they just took it

It is a scam, probably to get you to sit in on a time-share sell-a-thon. Don’t go.
