The prices vary as you go from city to city. The most popular cities like San Juan and Ponce are the most expensive ones. If you go anywhere else, you can find cheaper food and products. Although things are more expensive in San Juan, the jewelry they sell there is cheaper.
Activities are not expensive, I mean they're average and it all depends where you do them. If you want to Snorkel in San Juan, it will be more expensive than to snorkel in Rio Grande, for example, where the snorkeling is even better.
Food is just like in the Us. Some restaurants are expensive and others are not. It depends on your tastes. But in general they're not expensive. There are, obviously, some that are prohibitive, but they arent that common.
Remember, its all about the city youre in !
Have a nice trip.!!

We're sure one expensive little island if you live here, but if you go travelling it will all depend on your tastes, there's great shopping, on the metro area: Plaza las Americas, also if you're planning on renting a car gas might cost you $40/week, rent a car, I'm sure the experience will be far more exciting, since there's millions of things to do in PR, Old San Juan, Shopping, Nightclubs in Isla Verde, Condado, The Camuy Caverns, Arecibo Radio Telescope, Bioluminiscent Bay in Fajardo, La Parguera in Lajas, Gilligan's Island, Culebra Island (can go to Flamenco Beach) via Ferry through Fajardo, Cabo Rojo Light House which is right next to a gorgeous beach (playa sucia) crowded on the weekends, bring a camera, you will take abnormaly beautiful pictures at sunset. There's horse back riding, golf clubs at Rio Grande, Fajardo, Ponce, Dorado. Also there's Pinones, a great place to satisfy your appetite for fried stuff right next to the waves. El Yunque National Rain Forest Park, Luquillo Beach, Ponce and its art museum, its downtown, Isabela has great scenarios as well, and the list goes on and on. Food is great, we have most American brand restaurants such as Chillis, Mc'Donalds, BK, Wendys, Maccaroni and Grill, etc, the prices are just like in the states, but there's other more expensive restaurants and very cheap ones, it all depends on what you're looking for, and how long you're gonna be staying.
