What are some good vacation spots for families in the USA?
Kuiper asked:
I am trying to plan our vacation for next summer, and cant think of any place good. We are tired of beaches, and amusement parks. What else is there?

Have you been to any of the national parks…Yellowstone, Yosemite, etc.? Take a camping trip in Wyoming (you can rent a cabin, take a fishing trip, visit Yellowstone, etc.) or in North Dakota.
Are your kids boys? They might like visiting the Football Hall of Fame, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and then catching a Cleveland Indians game. And since you’ll be on Lake Erie, you can either go fishing out on Put-in-Bay or (even tho you’re tired of amusement parks) you could stop at Cedar Point, home some of the best rollercoasters in the country). Or if they prefer baseball, there’s the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, followed by a drive to NYC to catch a Mets and/or Yankees game.

What about just going on a drive and worrying less about the destination, and more about the sights, like Grand Canyon, Mt. Rushmore, Yosemite, or Yellowstone national park? The worlds largest ball or yarn? Who knows be adventurous.

Washington, DC. It has more free tourist stuff than you can shake a stick at. Just for starters there’s the museum, the Smithsonian Institution, The National Gallery of Art, The Capitol, The FBI, The National Zoo. That’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Smoky Mountains. I use to live near Pigeon Forge/Knoxville, TN and when I told my fiance, who had never been there, it would be a great place to go, he was very puzzled.
We rented Covemont cabin for 125.00 per night, and got the 7th night free. It can sleep up to 16 people, included a full Kitchen, 2 full baths, TV’s, Vcrs, cable, phone, front porch with swing and rocking chairs. Blankets, dishes, towels are all included. Washer and Dryer on site. This cabin is in a community, not by itself.
View in the mornings and the awesome sunsets and in the spring and summer, the lightning bugs twinkle from the trees like twinkling lights on the Christmas Tree.
We went to Dollywood, Splash Country, Wears Valley, Caving, Hiking up to one of the falls, wading in ice cold water in the streams, picnicing, and we are planning to go back.
My fiance and his kids fell in love with Tennessee like me and my two sons already did. We saw racoons, bears, deer, hummingbird, squirrels, and so many other things.
Cherokee Reservation, tubing, and other things are on our list to try next time.
