What is going on with my package? What does departure scan mean?

Eric S asked:

I ordered clothes online over the holidays. I knew there would be some delays because of all the holidays, but I have no clue what is going on with my package. Is it normal for orders to just sit in a city for a few days?
I ordered from ups.
It should arrive in Tucson, Arizona, my city, tomorrow.

Yes, it will arrive on time, and departure scan means it left LA at 4:51 AM today. It should already be in Tucson, and will be on a truck to your destination tomorrow.

I’m almost 100% sure that you will receive your package on the expected date.

    Take it easy.

Departure scan is where the package left the last facility it was at. The last scan before coming to your house should say something like…Sent out for delivery.

I’m sure it is slow because most businesses got 4 days off for xmas and 4 days for new years b/c they were right before the weekend. A departure scan is when they scan it just before it leaves one facility. That means that it left Los Angeles at 4:51AM.

The way I see it Departure Scan is when it leaves a UPS hub to head closer to its destination for sorting and delivery. UPS screwed me over TOO for 3 days it said “EMERGENCY WEATHER CONDITIONS OUT OF UPS’S CONTROL” and this is when we had no snow on the ground!!!

They received your package from the vendor on Friday and it went out on a truck on Monday. Everything gets scanned into their computers. They scan it when they first get it, then scan it when it’s loaded on the truck then scanned again each time it changes trucks or is redistrubited until it’s delivered.
